Women in Science stamps

This project was a lovely combination of my design life and my science communication life…

Back in 2020 I wrote a blog post  about the portrayal of scientists on stamps. Women and indigenous scientists are not well represented on these visual microcosms of what society values, so I proposed women in science stamp collection to New Zealand Post. Ultimately, it happened!

I was able to include Rebecca Priestley and Kate Hannah as collaborators and between us and Lynette Townsend from NZ Post Collectables we selected the women to feature, and Rebecca and Kate (both historians of science) wrote the biographical information on them. What a joy! Order the presentation pack here.

Update February 2023: the talented Laurie Winkless wrote a profile for The Brilliant about me and this project ♡
